I have done a lot of computer work for friends and loved ones and most of their problems and woes stem from the fact that they don't do any computer maintenance on a regular basis, or very little of same. To quote one of our moderators, Bonzo 905, and use his analogy, your computer is very similar to a motorized vehicle. Your car or truck, from time to time, needs a tune up and an oil change, in a sense so does your Pc or Laptop.

Your computer has an engine>>>> CPU (central processing unit) it has horsepower>>>> RAM (random access memory) the more horsepower you have the more powerful and faster the machine. You are the driver and you take the machine in the direction you want it to go. Therefore, after a while your Pc or Laptop will require maintenance and it is NOT a big deal and it does NOT require a lot of time. In order for your machine to run at peak performance this should be done on a routine basis, especially if you visit the internet a lot. Viruses, Malware and Spyware can sneak into your machine without you even knowing it. Maintenance helps to prevent that and it does increase the performance of your machine.

Disk Clean-Up is very important, here is a link telling you all about it and how to do it >>>>>> http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/51 ... 61767.html

If you have any questions, or concerns, or any ideas concerning basic maintenance, please ask us or post your comments. Computers are wonderful things and we are just trying to help you make your's safer and better. Please read the other ideas and helpful hints posted in this section by the other guys. There is a lot of useful stuff here.

Cheers
